BYD Shark 6 OTA Update 2.1.2 to Roll Out in Batches Throughout December
EV Dealer Group has announced that BYD is rolling out OTA update version 2.1.2 for the Shark 6 in four batches through to December 22, 2025.
The update targets five functional areas:
- Optimised network connectivity stability to enhance the cloud service user experience
- Optimised the Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) function
- Optimised the Frontal Cross Traffic Brake (FCTB) function
- Optimised the Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR) function
- Optimised the logic for activating the Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) function via the Dipilot button

The FCTB optimisation is hoped to address specific driver feedback about overly sensitive brake interventions at roundabouts and intersections. Shark 6 owners have reported the system activating when they're already aware of crossing traffic and managing the situation themselves. The system correctly identifies potential threats but it can be difficult for such systems from any brand to take into account for driver awareness or intent before intervening.
What matters here isn't just the technical fix. It's what the update reveals about BYD's approach to post-launch refinement. The company is responding to real-world usage patterns and adjusting system behavior based on how drivers actually operate the vehicle in daily conditions.
The four-batch rollout structure suggests BYD is managing software deployment methodically rather than pushing updates universally. This staged approach allows the manufacturer to monitor system performance and bandwidth across different user groups.
OTA capability remains standard infrastructure in the Shark 6, not a premium feature. The ability to refine safety system calibration remotely represents ongoing software support in the vehicle's first year of market presence.
